The Martinu Oboe Concerto is one of the most important pieces in the Oboe Repertoire. It has long suffered from an old edition, wrought with mistakes and visually inadequate. I was fortunate to be able to rectify this with the New Edition, released in 2008, which I had the great honor of editing together with my former teacher, Maurice Bourgue.
The New Edition takes into account all the sources and was written down from scratch. All the possible information relevant for performance was added and annotated in footnotes and in the extensive appendix.
Our hard work has gained praise from the distinguished music magazine Das Orchester. It was our great pleasure when the conducting score and the orchestral parts were ready for use. I have had the privilege of conducting the world-premiere at the IDRS conference in Oklahoma 2010 with the wonderful Nicholas Daniel as soloist.
